In today's fast paced world, find your 'happy place'.

In today's fast paced world, everyone wants everything in an instant. Whether that be instant attention, instant response, instant answers or now even instant gratification. Some days it can be relentless and by the end of the week it leaves you feeling completely zapped of all that is you. Zapped of energy, enthusiasm and overall enjoyment, leading to lethargy that makes you want to crawl under the doona and hide from the world.

Does this sound familiar? If so, the answer is 'finding your happy place'.

To me, that 'happy place' is being out in the wide open spaces of the Australian bush. It is the draw-card of the endless blue skies, the rich red soil, as well as the majestic colours and smell of the Australian eucalyptus (gum trees). It's also watching the abundant wildlife and the thrill of dining under the brightest constellation of stars you have ever seen.

As I sit at my laptop typing, I am sure you can quite possibly hear my enormous deep sigh - oh, yes, a thousand times yes, that is my 'ultimate happy place'.

As much as I would love to be camping in the great Australian outdoors every weekend, with my work and various social commitments, that is no-where near a realistic wish, it is an impossible dream (well, for this weekend anyway!).

You may ask, how do you find that 'happy place'? How do you find that special place that gives you that instant energy boost, that recharges the body, mind and the soul, that is so often needed?

For me, being a creative soul, my passion is art, nature and photography, and living in the beautiful environment of Cairns in Australia's Tropical North Queensland, I am truly in paradise to explore those passions. But like all of us, some days it is not always that easy to 'get out from under the doona', to try to escape the 'day-to-day' (often monotonous) routine and try to find your 'happy place'. You just have to try.

At home, I have found my 'instant happy place', what I believe is my 'instant paradise'. That is at BirdWorld in Kuranda, Cairns, All I have to do is 'get out from under the doona', pack my Canon camera gear, grab a buddy and jump in the car for an easy 45 minute drive and I am there. Voila, instant happiness!

Located in Australia's Tropical North Queensland, BirdWorld is an eclectic mix of native Australian and selected species from across the globe. It is an explosive burst of colour, amongst a menagerie of constant chatter, from these endearingly inquisitive creatures that provide instant enjoyment for less than $20!

Not all 'city folk' will agree with me, I understand that. Your happy place may be shopping for the latest fashions, or grabbing bargains at the local fete or markets, exploring museums, experiencing the latest hip restaurants or heading to the regional music festivals. That is what makes this fabulous world we share so wonderful. Everyone is unique, plus each and every one of us needs to find our own extra special 'happy place'.

My photography is my gift to you, to provide a moment of instant joy and instant happiness.

It is sharing that moment of instant escapism from today's fast paced world, that we all seem to crave so desparately. So even if you are still hiding under that doona, I do hope my ramblings and images made you smile - even if it was only for an instant!

Until next blog, stay happy, stay safe and stay in touch, Rochelle
